2: The Blackness

Polishing the handrails on the Titanic.  It's hard not to feel that way right now.  An unexpected death is supposed to put all things in perspective.  What a sad oversimplification.  You gain perspective when you're uplifted.  "A bird's eye view of a bird's eye view" as Gordon Downie put it.  Death doesn't give you that at all.  Not in my case.  More of a worm's eye view of a worm's eye view.  Buried.  Blinded.  Burrowing, tunneling, and when you finally get to the top and feel you're getting somewhere you find you're lost on the pavement with a sense that the birds are circling.  Sorry to be so dramatic, but no one is reading this anyway.

Back to the cleaning routine- upon my return to work I found one of my message boards ripped down by a drunk.  Yet another item purchased with my own money since our department is so "financially challenged" that such things can't be afforded for us.  Yesterday my 8th dry erase marker was stolen, gum spit all over the floor, spit all over the walls, nasal cavity refuse fingersmeared all over the elevator.  This morning I walked into the building to a disastrous mess in the stairwell.  An exploded can of cola was sprayed up and down the walls.  If youth is wasted on the young at least intelligence isn't.

  1. I wish I had more time to be clever, I'm dashing around campus trying to spill diverse and plentiful bodily fluids around various things that I know I will never have to clean up.

Really though, I get out of class everyday at 2. I will walk up there sometime... since I'll be at Wendell, I'll try to remember to bring my piercing indignation for ugg boots.

p.s. for the love of whatever, please don't stop writing/musing. This is the most interesting, groundbreaking body of work I've come across all year long-- and I have the friggin' internet!

Okay it's not THAT groundbreaking, I mean, you know, cause I have netflix... and just watched "The Parking Lot Movie" (which you need to watch)... But please keep it up.

BLIMEY, govna' I've lost track o' time-- catch you later!

oh, and , also, This blog was started for a class last year-- so I never check it or write in it. However, I'm wiling to start a blog war if the need should arise.

  2. Wow. Thanks Iris. High praise coming from a smarty pants "word writer" like yourself. And I will check out "the Parking Lot Movie". I had already mulled it over while poking about at the Netflix's (add plurals to sound old). It has been added to the list of flicker shows I wantses to watches. And Yes, I too am "wiling [sic] to start a blog war" if need be (writer sings "pedant... pedant... pedant, pedant, pedant" to Pink Panther theme in usual smug self-aggrandization)). It "is on like Ponce de León"* (*see latest "Community" episode to comprehend why this should be funny to you, ignoring schoolwork in the process).
Still waiting to hear your review of "Big Time" with Tom Waits. Why don't you blog that? My wife and I have been watching a Tom Waits "unofficial" documentary this weekend. We didn't think we could love him more. Wrong. Our era is just not worthy of him. Blog ya later. (Jiminy christopher, I'm a nerd.)

-Plus also too as well, if you show up at Coach's- Rob and I will be wearing uggs. So what.
